FAQ’S How long will drilling a well take? Depending on the local geology and final depth of the well, the well usually is drilled in just one day. After the drilling crew has done their part, the pump installation crew takes over and installs the pressure system. This will take less than a day to complete. We can also install a temporary pump system for the contractor to use in construction of your home before installation of your permanent system. Most drilling contractor do not install pump systems and you lose the flexibility of scheduling by not having one contractor completing the entire water system. We pride ourselves in working closely with your general contractor keeping the project going smoothly. How is the location of the well determined? There are a number of factors to consider when locating the well on the property. The State of Wisconsin water well code requires certain distances be maintained from pollution sources such as septic tanks and absorption fields, lakes, rivers, animal yards, and fuel storage tanks. You must bear in mind also that the closest pollution sources may not be on just your property, but may be on a close by neighboring property. Generally speaking, most people try to plan the septic system on one side of the house, and the well system on the other. The well should be on the highest side of property if the terrain has a slope and about 10 to 20 feet from the house. How about the water quality in my new well? Water quality can vary from one location to another, so it is difficult the determine water quality before the well is completed. The best way the predetermine possible water quality problems such a high iron content is to canvas the neighborhood to see what the water quality is in wells close by. We also have experience drilling in most areas and can pass what information we have on to you. Water quality problems of a bacterial nature in properly constructed drilled wells are extremely rare. There are problems though in some areas, particularly agricultural areas, with nitrate pollution of the ground water that carries a potential health risk. We have identified many of these nitrate hot spots and will help you to try and eliminate these potential problems with proper well construction. How far in advance do I have to schedule drilling my well? We would like to schedule your well as soon as possible so we can coordinate our work schedule. If this is a replacement well and an emergency we will get to you as soon as possible. We will coordinate with your contractor to insure the we will not be in each others way on the construction site. We can drill your well anytime during the construction phase of your home. If your property is located in Dane County, we will apply for the required well permit for you. |
